You Were There When…
When you give to Paths of Hope, you are not simply supporting programs from a distance. You are present in the stories God is writing in Peru.
You were there when teens from the Puericultorio gathered for integration events, laughing over games, art projects, snacks, and shared moments of connection. You were there when mentors gathered with their mentees from the Buckner residences, sharing life and meals together, learning new skills, and building relationships rooted in consistency and care. You were there when young adults received short-term scholarships to study a trade, opening doors to new skills, greater confidence, and future opportunities.
You were there when trainings equipped caregivers, churches, children’s homes, and organizations to better understand the stories and needs of vulnerable children and adolescents. You were there when government officials from the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations invited us to speak with children’s home staff from across Lima about the importance of self-care. You were there when trauma-competent caregiver trainings helped shape more compassionate spaces for children who have experienced deep loss, instability, and pain.
You were there when leaders gathered at Perú por los Niños conferences to learn, collaborate, and dream about how the church can respond more faithfully to children and youth without parental care. You were there when church members met to participate in the Caring for the Vulnerable small group curriculum, and when congregations heard sermons about why we are called to care for the vulnerable. You were there when mentors gathered for encouragement, fellowship, and renewed vision for the ministry God has entrusted to us.
Now, halfway through the year, we are seeing the impact of an expanded vision and an increased ministry budget. The expansion into Cusco is already helping influence culture and attitudes toward caring for the vulnerable, especially among churches across the city. Conversations are growing. Doors are opening. Pastors, leaders, caregivers, and mentors are being invited to see vulnerable children and youth not as someone else’s responsibility, but as people God has placed before the church with dignity, purpose, and value.
You have been there—and you continue to be there—as young people are reminded that they are seen, known, and deeply loved by God.
As this ministry grows, we invite you to prayerfully consider growing with it.
If you are already giving, would you consider increasing your monthly support? If you have not yet started giving, would you consider becoming part of this work through a recurring gift?
Your support helps make these moments possible—mentoring relationships, trainings, church mobilization, caregiver support, and opportunities for young people to experience belonging and hope. Together, we have the opportunity to help expand God’s Kingdom in Peru by strengthening the community around vulnerable youth and pointing them toward lasting hope.
P.S. If you would like to see the ministry firsthand, we would love have you join us on a future vision trip and come and see what God is doing in Peru.
