Trauma Competent Caregiver training in Cusco

Billy recently traveled to Cusco to lead our third Trauma Competent Caregiver training for this year.

Normally, we teach this 20-hour course over five weeks—but at the invitation of the pastors from a Christian and Missionary Alliance church in the city, we offered the full course over one intensive weekend.

It was a packed schedule—Friday through Sunday—but incredibly rewarding. Thirty-one people completed the course, and the conversations that came out of it were both deep and positive.

After the training, the pastor’s wife approached Billy to express her gratitude. She shared that during the weekend something in her had been reawakened, and that she was excited to dream again about how their church could begin caring for vulnerable children and families.

We’re praying for each of the participants as they consider next steps—whether it be volunteering as mentors with Paths of Hope or finding other ways to serve in their community.
