Relationship building with pastors and ministry leaders in Lima

Every few months Billy participates in Iniciativa Lima’s Connection Breakfast where pastors and leaders gather to strengthen ties, share experiences and renew their vision for the city with the transforming hope of the Gospel.

Iniciativa Lima is part of the City to City network which was founded by Tim Keller from Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City. The network aims to be a resource for city pastors and ministry leaders who are loving their cities through the gospel.

For almost a year now, we have been intentional about developing relationships with the pastors and ministry leaders who attend the bimonthly breakfasts and other events held by the network. Participating in gatherings like this have been crucial in sharing about the Caminando Juntos mentoring ministry. Many of our current mentors attend a church who is part of the Iniciativa Lima network and a lot of the people who have participated in the Trauma Competent Caregiver trainings have been connected in some way as well.

The gatherings also give us the opportunity to engage with the local church in conversations about God’s heart for vulnerable children, teens and families - and widen their perspective, beyond one off service projects toward long-term relational ministry, ideally through mentoring!

We’re thankful for the opportunities to build community with pastors and leaders in Lima who have a heart for this city.
